Photography as Therapy

I love photography but I often overlook its value for energizing and filling me.

Life has gotten a bit stressful lately. So when I neglect to take time to getting out the door, walking under the sunshine with a camera dangling around my neck, I begin to shut down emotionally.

Initially, I thought that I needed to escape to the nearby mountains, but I never felt that I could since the Beartooths are more than an hour’s drive away from Billings. However, I soon discovered that simply getting out and walking around town on a sunny day is actually quite sufficient.

I’m not showing this images because I think they are awesome. I’m sharing because I had an opportunity to be creative and snap whatever caught my eye. I tried a few new things based on some photographers I follow on Twitter, and it was gratifying to chase some nice evening light.

Moreover, I was able to refresh: shed some stress, and express myself creatively as God has graciously gifted me to do. For that, I am thankful.
